Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 18, 2024

Our Great Task, Inc. (“Our Great Task,” “we” or “us”) values your support and is committed to protecting your privacy. This statement (the “Privacy Policy”) sets forth our policies and practices for handling your information on the Our Great Task website and any other website or online service that we operate and that links to this Privacy Policy (the “Services”).

We may collect the following kinds of information when you use the Services:

Information you provide directly to us. For certain activities, such as when you subscribe to our alerts, contact us directly, or when you choose to contribute online, we may ask you to provide some or all of the following types of information:

  • Contact information, such as full name, email address, mobile phone number, and address;
  • Information about your interests and preferences;
  • Financial information, such as credit card number, expiration date, and credit card security code, where needed to complete a transaction; and
  • Information you provide us, such as information in correspondence you send to us or provide to messenger bots on the Services.

Information we collect automatically. We may collect certain information automatically when you use our Services, such as your Internet protocol (IP) address and other device identifiers that are automatically assigned to your computer or device when you access the Internet, browser type, operating system, Internet service provider, pages that you visit before and after using the Services, page response times, download errors, the date/time and length of your visit, information about the links you click and pages you view within the Services, and other standard server log information. We may infer your general location information, for example, by using your IP address.

We may use cookies, pixel tags, Local Storage Objects, and similar technologies to automatically collect this information. Cookies are small bits of information that are stored by your computer’s web browser. Pixel tags are very small images or small pieces of data embedded in images, also known as “web beacons” or “clear GIFs,” that can recognize cookies, the time and date a page is viewed, a description of the page where the pixel tag is placed, and similar information from your computer or device. Local Shared Objects (sometimes referred to as “Flash Cookies”) are similar to standard cookies except that they can be larger and are downloaded to a computer or mobile device by the Adobe Flash media player. By using the Services, you consent to our use of cookies and similar technologies.

Information we obtain from other sources. We may receive information about you from other sources, including through publicly and commercially available sources, third-party services, and other organizations (as permitted by law), which we may combine with other information we collect when you visit our website, through the Services, or that we otherwise collect or receive from or about you. For example, if you access third-party services, such as Facebook, Google, or Twitter, through the Services to share information about your experience on the Services with others, we may collect information from these third-party services.

We also may aggregate or de-identify the personal information described above so that it is not reasonably likely to identify you. Such aggregated or de-identified data is not subject to this Privacy Policy.

We may use and otherwise process the personal information identified above for the following business purposes:

  • Provide the Services, including by allowing you to participate in features of the Services and fulfilling your requests for products, services, and information;
  • Send you promotional materials from us, our affiliates, and trusted third-party partners;
  • Analyze the use of the Services and user data to understand and improve the Services;
  • Customize the content you see when you use the Services;
  • Prevent potentially prohibited or illegal activities and otherwise in accordance with our Terms of Use; and
  • For any other purposes disclosed to you at the time we collect your information or pursuant to your consent.

We only use payment information, such as credit card numbers, expiration date, and security codes, as necessary to complete a particular transaction or as otherwise required by law.

Our Great Task retains the personal information described above for so long as reasonably necessary and proportionate to fulfill the business purposes set out above. The criteria that inform our retention practices include legal requirements, contractual requirements, and business needs. For example, we will retain your information during ongoing interactions with you, including pending inquiries about sales and services, events and training registrations, and other matters, and for a reasonable period thereafter to enable any follow up of our correspondence and contact if needed.

We are committed to maintaining your trust, and we want you to understand when and with whom we may disclose each of the categories of information we collect, including currently and in the preceding 12 months. We may disclose the information you provide, information we collect automatically, and information from other sources to:

  • Authorized third-party vendors and service providers. We share this information with third-party vendors and service-providers that help us with specialized services, including email deployment, business analytics, marketing, and data processing. For example, we share information we collect automatically with our business analytics providers to learn about our website traffic and activity.
  • Affiliates. We may share this information with our affiliates.
  • Business transfers. We may share this information in connection with a substantial corporate transaction, such as the sale of a website, a merger, consolidation, or asset sale.
  • Legal purposes. We may disclose information to respond to subpoenas, court orders, legal process, law enforcement requests, legal claims or government inquiries, and to protect and defend the rights, interests, safety, and security of Our Great Task, our affiliates, users, or the public.
  • With your consent. We may share information for any other purposes disclosed to you at the time we collect the information or pursuant to your consent.

If you access third-party services, such as Facebook, Google, or Twitter, through the Services to share information about your experience on the Services with others, these third-party services may be able to collect information about you, including information about your activity on the Services, and they may notify your connections on the third-party services about your use of the Services, in accordance with their own privacy policies.

We do not sell personal information for money or other valuable consideration, or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, both currently and in the last twelve (12) months.  We also have not knowingly sold or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising personal information for minors less than sixteen (16) years of age.

We use reasonable measures to help protect information from loss, theft, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. You should understand that no data storage system or transmission of data over the Internet or any other public network can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure, accurate, complete, or current. Please note that information collected by third parties may not have the same security protections as information you submit to us, and we are not responsible for protecting the security of such information.

You may be able to refuse or disable cookies by adjusting your web browser settings. Some browsers have options that allow the visitor to control whether the browser will accept cookies, reject cookies, or notify the visitor each time a cookie is sent. Because each web browser is different, please consult the instructions provided by your web browser (typically in the “help” section). Please note that you may need to take additional steps to refuse or disable Local Shared Objects and similar technologies. For example, Local Shared Objects can be controlled through the instructions on Adobe’s Setting Manager page. For additional information on how Google processes your information and what choices you may have, visit their site here. If you choose to refuse, disable, or delete these technologies, some of the functionality of the Services may no longer be available to you and any differences in service are related to the data. Deleting cookies may in some cases cancel the opt out selection in your browser.

You may request to access, limit collection of, correct, or delete your personal information. We will respond to such requests made in writing as set out below according to applicable law. We may need to request additional information from you in order to verify your request.  You may be entitled, in accordance with applicable law, to submit a request through an authorized agent by using the contact information provided below.  You also may be entitled, in accordance with applicable law, to appeal a refusal to take action on your request; to do so, please see the instructions in our response to your request.

You may choose to receive promotional emails, text messages, newsletters and similar communications from us. You may opt out of receiving commercial emails from us by clicking on the opt-out or “unsubscribe” link included in the commercial emails you receive.  You may opt out of receiving marketing text messages from us by replying “STOP.”

California residents are entitled once a year, free of charge, to request and obtain certain information regarding our disclosure, if any, of certain categories of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights and choices, although some of the functionality and features available on the Services may change or no longer be available to you. If you choose not to provide us with personal information we collect, some features of the Services may not work as intended.

Some of the Services may contain links to content maintained by third parties that we do not control. We may allow third parties to place and read their own cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information automatically through the sites and online services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, and we recommend that you visit the privacy policies of each website that you visit.

Do-Not-Track Signals and Similar Mechanisms. Some web browsers transmit “do-not-track” signals to websites. Because of differences in how web browsers incorporate and activate this feature, it is not always clear whether users intend for these signals to be transmitted, or whether they even are aware of them. We currently do not take action in response to these signals.

The Services are designed for and targeted to U.S. audiences and are governed by and operated in accordance with the laws of the U.S. We make no representation that the Services are operated in accordance with the laws or regulations of any other nations. By using the Services and providing us with information, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside your resident jurisdiction in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we update the Privacy Policy, we will revise the “Effective Date” date above and post the new Privacy Policy. We recommend that you review the Privacy Policy each time you visit the Services to stay informed of our privacy practices.
